2011 exhibited more of the same positive upward trends that we witnessed in 2010 and compared to 2007 in many ways, which is a benchmark year in which we thought the market was relatively “good”. This recap is a comparison of 2011 to 2010 sales information, the source is the Southwest Montana Multiple Listing Service (SWMLS).

Andres will be honored for this achievement at the ERA International Business Conference in New Orleans in March. Andres is also recognized for her total sales units in 2011. A self-proclaimed "numbers nerd," Big Sky ERA office owner Robyn Erlenbush has spent the beginning of 2012 going over figures and making graphs to convey just what’s happened in the Big Sky real estate market in 2011 compared to 2010.
It’s a task she takes on every year. This time around Erlenbush’s found condo sales are up while prices are down. Single-family home sales and prices are up. And, the number of bank-owned sales comprised 25 percent of 2011 Big Sky real estate transactions.
As we promised in our January e-newsletter, we’re going to give a summation of what happened with the real estate market in our area during 2011. We know that all real estate is local, so these figures are most important if we can show trends that might continue into 2012.
The health of the real estate market nationally does affect us, of course, in that buyers from around the country are affected by their own local markets and whether they can sell their homes so they can move here!
The Blue Slipper Theatre, in collaboration with the Shane Center, will present a special Valentine’s Day Gala Dinner performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, adapted and directed by our very own Gillian Swanson in our ERA Landmark Western Land office in Livingston, to honor retired local music and voice teacher, Marcia McCarry, on Tuesday, February 14th at the Dulcie Theatre in Livingston.
