After the 2010 year-end numbers have been tallied and analyzed, Big Sky has reason to celebrate the positive gains that have been experienced in the real estate marketplace. Statistics generated from the Southwest Montana Multiple Listing Service (SWMLS) report that there were 52 single family homes sold in Big Sky in 2010, which is a 27% increase over the 41 comparative sales in 2009. As we fondly say farewell to 2010, a year that exceeded most expectations, we look forward to improving market conditions in 2011. The first month of the year has shown increased buyer interests in all areas of our region. Many offices are reporting more showings and accepted offers. It appears that buyer confidence is improving with more “real buyers” in the market.

Optimism builds in Big Sky area: Home sales, new construction signal economic rebound
After several years of dismal market growth, real estate professionals throughout Big Sky and southwest Montana have reported that sales, construction and showings are finally on the rise.
"The good news is the market is up in 2010 substantially from previous years, especially in the condo market," said Robyn Erlenbush, broker owner at ERA Landmark. "Prices are down but sales are up."

Great news from WSJ that shows Montana as having one of the least amounts of “underwater” loans – 7% (with another 3. 5% possible). That compares to NV w/ 66.5%, AZ with 48.6%, FL 45.5%, MI 37.6%.
