Puccini’s gorgeous music has defined young love for all time as it carries us into the lives of Rodolfo, Mimi, Marcello, Musetta, and their friends in Paris c. 1830. Last presented by IOA in 1995, this is one of the most beloved operas in the world and established Puccini’s reputation.

Our artistic director has put together an exciting young cast of up and coming artists for next this production.

October (October 9 and 11, 2009) - The Ballad of Baby Doe by Douglas Moore

American composer, Douglas Moore, based this opera on real-life Colorado characters in the 1880s. The rise and fall of silver magnate Horace Tabor and his lover “Baby” Doe premiered in 1956 at Central City, Colorado. The Ballad of Baby Doe was premiered by the New York City Opera later that same year and has become one of the most popular American operas.
