The Bozeman City Commission recently approved the 7th and Aspen development, a new project bringing much-needed affordable housing to Bozeman.

Here's the rundown:

• Location: Corner of 7th Avenue and Aspen Street, including the Midtown Tavern building and surrounding properties.
• Units: 96 units total, with income restrictions.

• 17 units: Rented to those earning 50% of the area's median income.
• 29 units: Rented to those earning 60% of the area's median income.
• 50 units: Rented to those earning 80% of the area's median income.

• Construction: The first two phases are approved and ready to move forward. Phase three, which would involve a taller building, needs further approval.

The project's future impact on the Midtown Tavern's event space is interesting. The space recently opened but may transition into a parking lot if phase three is approved. However, for now, the Midtown Event Space is open for business!
