The final adoption of the Bozeman Community Plan n also called the 2020 Growth Plan - is on the Bozeman City Commission’s agenda for tonight.
The plan is a blueprint for what growth in the valley should look like in the coming years. The city has had a growth plan since 1958 and the current version is an update to the plan adopted in 2001.
One issue that remains to be finalized in this plan update deals with whether portions of the Bridger foothills are designated as “future urban” or not.
A coalition of residents called Friends of the Bridger Foothills has worried that the designation could allow for high-density development in the area. Meanwhile, city planners say it simply signals that the city will work with the county, which ultimately has jurisdiction over the area, as future zoning questions arise.
The commission tonight will also hear an update on the Municipal Climate Action Plan and plans for a vapor study around the Bozeman Solvent Site at the Hastings Shopping Center on West Main Street.
In other businesses, the commission will consider:
* Adding clauses to the city code to prohibit skateboarding in the downtown parking garage.
* Acknowledging receipt of City Manager Chris Kukulski’s recommended budget for fiscal year 2010.
* A three-year contract with the Bozeman School District for the city to provide solid waste disposal. The city stands to make $174,800 over that period.
* A $711,735 bid from Edstrom Construction, Inc, of Rexburg, Idaho, to replace several water mains in the city.
The commission meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 121 N. Rouse Ave.
