Having trouble deciding what to get your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day? Support your local Museum by joining Jack Horner and friends at the 2009 Museum Ball fundraising event on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14th from 6 pm–midnight. This year’s event, themed Fire & Ice, will transform the Museum’s main galleries into a steamy Fire Room featuring an all-you-can-eat tantalizing hot buffet catered by Montana Epicurean, and a glacial Ice Room with delicious delicacies from Custom Dining Experiences as well as a martini ice luge featuring 44˚ North Vodka. Come dressed in fiery red or frosty blue, and don’t forget your dancing shoes because Jeni Fleming and the Glen Johnston Swing Band strike up at 6 pm.

“Not only is this event celebrating a keystone cultural institution in Bozeman, but we will be honoring the Museum’s long-time friends, Dave and Kippy Sands,” said Penny Hatten, Museum Ball Event Chair. Giving opportunities will be available throughout the night in the Live Auction featuring items such as a three-day family dinosaur dig where you will get the chance to talk with Jack Horner about his controversial new book, How to Build a Dinosaur; a Yellowstone National Park field trip with world-renowned thermal researchers and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have cocktails over ancient glacial ice cores with the polar researchers of Montana State University; and the opportunity to be a “Miner for a Day” with title sponsor, Rio Tinto Minerals.

The Museum will also be raising money for the Opening Doors for Schoolchildren fund which allows all Montana schoolchildren to attend the Museum free of charge as well as covering half their transportation costs.  An individual can help sponsor one child with as little as five dollars.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, January 14. The open seating ticket price of $150 per person for Museum members and $175 per person for non-members includes dancing all night and all the food and cocktails your heart desires, with a portion of the ticket price being tax-deductible. Reserved tables are available for sponsors.  For a sneak preview of auction items and more event details, please follow the link to the Museum Ball webpage from the Museum’s homepage: museumoftherockies.org.
