Check out these fabulous weekend events taking place in Southwest Montana from Friday, September 8th - Sunday, September 10th ARTS The Producers-The Verge Theater-Fri and Sat at 8:00 pm & Sun at 3:00 pm. Winner of multiple Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Based on the 1968 film, Mel Brooks's musical The Producers is a laugh-out-loud, outrageous, crowd-pleasing farce that has been a smash hit since its 2001 debut. Fading Broadway producer Max Bialystock is desperate to get to the top of his profession again, and he finds an unlikely ally in mousy accountant Leo Bloom, who hypothesizes that one could make far more money with a flop of a show than with a hit. Together, the two set out to produce the worst musical ever to hit Broadway, with the worst script, the worst director, and the worst cast they can find; the catch is that they will raise two million dollars to finance the show, and they plan to take the money and head to Rio when the show inevitably closes after just one performance. Too bad for Bialystock & Bloom that, against all odds, the show is a total hit! With dozens of big and bit parts alike, no shortage of showstopping musical numbers, and Brooks' signature humor keeping audiences in stitches, The Producers is definitely far from a flop. Downtown Bozeman Art Walk-Downtown Bozeman-Fri at 6:00 pm. The Downtown Bozeman Association, Downtown Bozeman art galleries, and retailers and the Emerson Center for Art and Culture are proud to present this summer's Downtown Bozeman Art Walks. The Art Walks occur on the 2nd Friday of the month; June through September and again for our "Winter" Art Walk in December from 6 to 8PM in Downtown Bozeman. IndepenDANCE 2017: Eclipe-The Ellen Theatre-Sat at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm. IndepenDANCE Community Dance Project is an entirely volunteer-run project whose mission is to provide support, connection, and opportunities for adults in the Bozeman community, of all dance backgrounds and abilities, to choreograph and perform. Through the past nine years, participants have been able to create all types of dance together and showcase their work in a variety of settings. Baskerville-Blue Slipper Theater Livingston-Fri and Sat at 8:00 pm & Sun at 3:00 pm. Get your deerstalker cap on — the play's afoot! Comedic genius Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo) transforms Arthur Conan Doyle's classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure. Sherlock Holmes is on the case. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. SPORTING EVENTS Gallatin Speedway Races-Gallatin Speedway, 2290 Tubb Rd, Belgrade-Fri at 7:35 pm. Gallatin Speedway was built in 1997 to replace the old Hub of the Valley Speedway which had been located near I-90 and was purchased by the State of Montana to put in a new interchange.
