Bridger View neighborhood is proudly participating in an initiative to facilitate housing opportunities for workers in Bozeman, Montana. Bridger View is a 62-home development next to Story Mill Community Park. Headwaters Community Housing Trust is offering 31 of the neighborhood’s homes at prices well below market. Bridger View’s 31 market-rate homes are represented by Mark Meissner and Tyler Garrison from our Bozeman office.
Employee Housing Initiative
The new program is giving employers an opportunity to help their workers purchase high-quality homes and at the same time help increase a supply of homes that will remain affordable to Bozeman’s workforce for generations. "The Employee Right of Purchase Program will allow employers to chip in money to subsidize development of below-market-rate homes that their employees would then be first in line to buy." (Nora Shelly, Bozeman Daily Chronicle) Christine Walker, Headwaters Community Housing Trust Board Treasurer, says the organization has been meeting with a wide array of Bozeman employers. All are seeking solutions to employee retention and recruitment issues driven by the high cost of living. The new program includes three below-market homes in the Bridger View neighborhood. It provides a way for employers to help developers build high-quality homes priced at levels members of Bozeman’s workforce can afford, as opposed to participating directly in an employee’s home purchase. Bozeman city commissioners recently approved a grant in support of the program, which meets a goal in the City’s 2019 Community Housing Action Plan.
Closing Credits Available to Bridger View Buyers
To help buyers who are not eligible for Bridger View’s below-market homes, Headwaters Community Housing Trust is now offering a $10,000 closing credit to buyers of the neighborhood’s market-rate homes. The credit can be used for closing costs or to buy down the interest rate on a mortgage, helping buyers lower their monthly payments.
