Biggest Skiing in America Program Launched for Winter 09-10

Community Partnership to Offer Free Skiing and Stay Packages

BIG SKY, Mont. — It’s easy to take advantage of Big Sky and the Biggest Skiing in America this winter with a new program offering discounts to explore Lone Peak. Throughout the 2009-2010 ski season, there are ski and stay-free packages available with lodging partners throughout the Big Sky area available at www.BiggestSkiingInAmerica.com.

Guests have the flexibility to purchase Biggest Skiing in America, Big Sky Resort, or Moonlight Basin lift tickets with their lodging choice and will qualify for a free ticket accessing all 5,512 acres.

Skiers and riders can enjoy free nights of lodging and receive a free Biggest Skiing in America ticket with the stay at selected partners. The discount will vary depending on the dates, but the packages range from skiing and staying one night and getting one night free to ski and staying for four nights and getting the fifth night and day free. The program will offer a coupon book for participating guests providing added value and discounts for shopping and dining in the community.  As always, children 10 and under ski free at Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin.

“This opportunity is an exciting development for our community in working together to achieve a successful and measurable campaign to attract more visitors to the Big Sky area,” said Taylor Middleton, general manager of Big Sky Resort. “These efforts would not have been made possible without the support of the Big Sky Resort Tax District and the many businesses who testified on behalf of this effort.”

Lodging partners offering the Biggest Skiing in America ski & stay free package are Big Sky Resort Central Reservations, East West Resorts, Buck’s T-4, Lone Mountain Ranch, River Rock Lodge, Big Sky Luxury Rentals, The Lodge at Big Sky, and the 320 Guest Ranch. Restrictions do apply and all reservations can be made at www.BiggestSkiingInAmerica.com.

The Biggest Skiing in America Pass offers access to over 220 ski runs with 4,350 feet of vertical drop. In the past, known as the Lone Peak Pass or Lone Peak Ticket, the interconnect ticket also offers unique access to the North Summit Snowfields which is only lift accessible with a Biggest Skiing in America ticket. Other ski amenities in the community include nearby Lone Mountain Ranch which offers a top-ranked Nordic ski facility with 85 km of groomed trails.

“Our skiing product is truly the Biggest Skiing in America, not only in acreage but also the experience of a huge variety of terrain with amazing vistas,” said Greg Pack, general manager of Moonlight Basin. “The experience of skiing our mountains and the quality of our snow is unmatched anywhere else in North America and the hidden value – there is no need to worry about crowds.”

The Biggest Skiing in America program was created by members of the Big Sky community, located just north of Yellowstone National Park, with the leadership of the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce, supported by funding from the Resort Tax board, the Montana Office of Tourism, The Club at Spanish Peaks, the ski resorts and several prominent local businesses to assist in promoting the new program.
