About Kelsey

Kelsey Johnson is an artist and professional agriculturalist based in Bozeman, Montana. Working primarily with the mediums of graphite pencil and oil paint, Kelsey focuses on representational depictions of wildlife and western figures in scenic settings across the American West. Outside the studio, Kelsey enjoys an array of outdoor activities including hiking, camping, and wildlife.

Kelsey's Artist Statement

"My artistic creations mirror developing life experiences as a resident, student, and admirer of the American West. I believe the term “Western Art” is the surface below which churns a great ocean of tragedy, complicated perspectives, and ultimate individuality. I personally hope to continually look to the people and creatures through which this land was forged, and to do my best to honor their struggles and achievements through my art."

As a testament to her passion for the American West and the lands that make it, Kelsey has pledged to donate 10% of proceeds from the sale of her artwork to the Gallatin Valley Land Trust. With ERA Landmark's dedication towards supporting our community, we will price match up to $250 to her charity as well. ERA Landmark and our lovely artist would like to invite you to stop by Friday, August 13th from 4-8pm for an artist reception as well as Downtown Bozeman's second Art Walk series of the year! There will be plenty of conversation with Kelsey herself, chilled wine, and beautiful artwork. If you can't make it for the Art Walk, Kelsey will be hosting a live painting demo Saturday, August 28th in the afternoon.
