About Katherine & Her Work
"Hi, I'm Katherine L Wright. I paint. I travel. I draw. I teach. In 2005, my life changed course when our family moved to Italy. There, I discovered and expressed my new world through sketching and art. I soon became involved in the Italian art world. By 2011, (and not quite fluent in Italian) I managed the art gallery K2 Studio/Anfora (Giovinazzo) with my Italian artist colleagues and was teaching watercolors to the local community.
I've shown my watercolor works throughout the USA and Italy, from Bellevue to Bari and Trani (Puglia) to Florence and Montisi in Tuscany, to Forte de Marme in province of Lucca. My Home Portraits are happily in the collections of many fine people, including past US Congressman Norm Dicks, Dr. Deepak Sawhney of Portland OR, and permanent collections in the City of Kirkland and Evergreen Hospital, Kirkland WA.
I have been a professional Architect and Architectural Illustrator since 1981, and retired from Architecture in 2020, For 2 years I taught at Montana State University, Gallatin College, Interior Design Department. I’m a board member of the Northwest Watercolor Society, and the editor of the quarterly newsletter “Hotpress”. Most recently, I am proud to head up an urban sketching group here in Bozeman called 'Not Quite Urban Sketchers'."
ERA Landmark has always approached hanging artists in our office a little differently - instead of taking a commission from art sales, we ask our artists to donate a small percentage towards a local charity or nonprofit near and dear to their hearts. Katherine has pledged to donate 10% of her art proceeds from any sales to Gallatin County Search and Rescue whose mission is to, "search for the lost and missing, rescue the injured and stranded, and bring them home safely and efficiently. When our community has a bad day, we are part of the solution. Though we are a volunteer organization, we provide a professional service to the residents and guests of Gallatin County." To further help support Katherine's cause, ERA Landmark will be price-matching a donation of up to $250 as well towards the same association.
