Get Your Home Ready for the Spring Market

Spring is around the corner and whether you’re getting your home ready to sell or just wanting to refresh your home after a long winter, here are some things that should be on your to-do list. 

Deep Clean

Spring is the best time to do a deep clean but if you’re planning on putting your home on the market, a deep clean is one of the easiest ways to make your home look its best for potential buyers. Buyers will be walking through your home, opening up closets and cupboards and you don’t want them to be distracted by clutter. If you are short on time, you can also hire professional cleaners for a deep clean.

  • Clean out cupboards and drawers
  • Clean out the refrigerator/freezer 
  • Dust ceiling corners and wash walls
  • Clean blinds, window frames, and sills - bonus tip: throw the curtains in the wash!
  • Detail bathrooms

Make Basic Repairs and Updates

Before putting your home on the market, do a walk-through and note anything that needs repairs or updating. You can hire a professional to help make repairs or take them on yourself - be sure to check for lightbulbs that need replacing, too!

  • Check for things like loose door knobs, leaky faucets, and broken appliances 
  • Touch up any cosmetic damages including holes or dents in walls or cracked tiles in bathrooms
  • Update any dated light fixtures or hardware 

Declutter and Stage

  • Pack away personal photos and knick-knacks
  • Remove unnecessary or oversized furniture
  • Use strategic furniture arrangements to create a good flow through the home
  • Use what you already have or purchase some modern accent pieces like wall art and pillows to create appealing spaces

Clean the Exterior and Create Curb Appeal

  • Trim landscaping and remove debris
  • Clean the exterior of your home and repair any damages
  • Add colorful flowers and new mulch
