Belgrade

At the very heart of Gallatin County and originating from the expansion of the Northern Pacific Railway in the late 1800s, Belgrade was established by entrepreneur Thomas B. Quaw who marketed the area as "The Princess of the Prairies". Due to European investors in the westbound railroad line, Belgrade was granted its name after the capital of Serbia. Like many traditional towns, the main street of the city still runs parallel to the railroad tracks.
