New Pickleball Court for Big Sky
Posted on August 21, 2025The Dancu Community Courts: More Pickleball in Big Sky
Big Sky has officially unveiled the Dancu Community Courts, a newly renovated facility featuring eight state-of-the-art pickleball courts and two tennis courts. This $1.3 million project, spearheaded by a generous donation from community member John Dancu, was completed through a community-wide fundraising effort led by the Big Sky Community Organization (BSCO).
Built to Last
The courts were constructed using post-tension concrete, a technique that significantly reduces cracking and comes with a 50-year warranty—a long-term investment in the community’s active lifestyle.
A Renewed Landmark
Formerly aging and overcrowded, the previous courts were in poor condition. The renovation not only resolved safety and space concerns but also elevated the facility into a modern, inviting community hub. Plans included refurbishing the adjacent "courthouse" building—home to restrooms and other amenities—to complement the new courts.
Community at Its Core
The spirit behind the upgrade resonates with BSCO’s mission: fostering connection and recreation beyond Big Sky’s slopes. The courts were designed with room to gather and socialize, reinforcing their role as a communal space.
