 For dads who enjoy spending the day bonding with their kids outdoors, consider Bozeman, Mont. A gateway community to Yellowstone National Park, Bozeman is a year-round recreational paradise.

“Bozeman is getting significant attention from prospective buyers because it has so much to offer,” said broker Robyn Erlenbush, ERA Landmark Real Estate. “Sales are up 10 percent versus the same time last year. Even our million-dollar-plus market is starting to rebound. But don’t let that scare you. There are great deals in this gorgeous location.”

If you simply must buy Dad a tie, take him somewhere he can really use it such as Philadelphia, Penn. Better known as “Philly,” the city of brotherly love is bustling with historic and cultural sites from the Liberty Bell to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Boathouse Row.

“Philadelphia is quickly becoming a real estate ‘must-see,’ commented broker Jin Gao, ERA Aarch Realty. “In fact, sales have increased 27 percent year-to-date versus the same period in 2011. It is more affordable than you would think.”

Families seeking the thrill of the city and the quiet peace of the suburbs can have the best of both worlds on the Main Line. Less than an hour from Philadelphia, the Main Line consists of the Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.

“The Main Line has always been known as an affluent residential area but there is good news for young families seeking to move here,” said broker Bette McTamney, ERA Platinum Realtors. “More affordable homes, especially fixer-uppers, are growing in availability but not in price. For example, the average sale price in Villanova is $1,400,000 but in Montgomery County, it is $283,963. Not bad for a million-dollar neighborhood!”
